Matt Xavier is a professional ambient-techno DJ, gestalt experiential counselor, psychedelic-assisted therapist, and author of The Psychedelic DJ: A Practical Guide to Therapeutic Music Curation & Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy (a.co/d/j7efcy9). With over 30 years behind the decks and 15 years in clinical mental health, Matt’s work lives at the intersection of music, healing, and expanded states of consciousness.
Since 1993, Matt has been a steady force in global electronic music culture. He co-founded Tsunami Productions, New York’s first psychedelic trance company, and went on to produce under the alias Gruvhaus, with releases on iconic labels like Fabric, Release Records, and Railyard Recordings, the imprint he founded in 2005. His sound blends psychedelic house, deep techno, and cinematic ambient, and has been featured at underground gatherings and major festivals across North America and beyond.
Today, Matt focuses on Therapeutic DJing, a modality he developed that uses intentional music curation to support psilocybin-assisted therapy and emotional transformation. Informed by gestalt therapy, harm reduction, and a lifetime of musical devotion, his work invites listeners inward by using sound not just as atmosphere but as medicine. His sessions, sets, and mixes are crafted as journeys, carefully attuned, emotionally resonant, and rooted in a deep respect for the healing power of vibration.
